The Vortex Rollercoaster at Calaway Park, Springbank Alberta, Canada

Paratrooper rides are another classic ride that really brings me back to my childhood.  These were a staple at fairs and parks and even though I have never been able to spin too much I can take a ride on one of these and enjoy it.

The Dream Machine was added to Calaway in 2007 and is one of the rides I wished I had time to take for a spin.  These are a favorite of my mothers and spinning through the air watching the distant mountains spin by would be a nice view.

Calaway really specializes in being a family park by having a nice mix of rides and shows for all ages but they get an extra plus in my book because you can bring a cooler into the park and have a picnic.  I'm sorry but every park should do this.  It makes a visit to a park affordable when you have kids and makes it a heck of a lot easier to buy a ticket or a season pass.

But if you want to buy food I highly suggest visiting one of Calaway's newest additions...this Beavertail stand.  If you don't know what a Beavertail is just imagine fried bread covered with hazelnut spread (also known as Nutella) and anything else you want like bananas, peanuts or a myriad of other tasty things.  Beavertails is heaven and I really want Canada to export more of these to the states!

With the trees, the sky, the mountains and the rides Calaway is a really pretty park.
