Opening in 1925 to help spur land sales and development in the Mission Bay area of San Diego the Mission May Recreation Center featured a classic Prior & Church designed beachside coaster and other attractions.  The park fell on hard times in the 1970's and closed in 1976.  Thankfully local citizens banded together to protect, save and bring back to life the Giant Dipper.  Now the coaster is the centerpiece of a lively dining, shopping and entertainment district.
