Six Flags Over Texas, Arlington, Texas

Being a 55 year old park a lot of Six Flags Over Texas has a great grown over natural atmosphere that you just can't buid.

Being one of the first theme parks there are a lot of firsts at Six Flags Over Texas.  It was the first park to offer a pay one price plan which revolutionized the industry. Another of the firsts for Six Flags Over Texas is having the worlds first log flume ride; the El Aserradero, that was built by Arrow Dynamics in 1963.

With trees growing up and hiding a lot of the park it is really easy to walk by this and miss that there is a coaster here.  Runaway Mountain is a completely enclosed Premiere Rides built coaster that is fun but not worth a long wait.  Thankfully our Flash Pass was able to be used to quickly in order to score this one.

It is interesting going from spending several days at a relatively brand new theme park like Six Flags Fiesta Texas and then heading back to where it all began at one of the first theme parks.  Just looking around and comparing you can see design wise what has changed over the years.

With Six Flags Fiesta Texas there are wide pathways that lead you around the park where at Six Flags Over Texas there are small meandering pathways everywhere leading to new discoveries around every corner.  I like both but the design of Fiesta Texas is much more suited for the modern theme park world where a park entertains significantly more people than the designers of Six Flags Over Texas planned for back in the late 1950's when they first put pencil to paper.
