Silver Dollar City at night is a rare thing as there are only two times
a year when the park is
open after six.

At the end of July Silver Dollar City opens for "Moonllight Madness" and
then for "An Old Time Christmas" from November through December are your
only chance for Wildfire, Powder Keg, Thunderation and Outlaw Run completely
surrounded by darkness.

I do love being up on Wildfire's viewing platform because you always are
treated to a stunning sunset at the end of the day.

Of course after dark during "An Old Time Christmas" all of the lights come
out at Silver Dollar City.
For our first night there we had to head back to the van for hats, gloves
and gaiters (scarves are dangerous on rides as they can get caught in the
mechanisms and kill you so don't even bring them) but our second night it
was warm enough we skipped the run to the van and stayed on riding.

There are over a thousand decorated Christmas trees all over the park and
with most of them lighting up once darkness descends. Up in the town
square sits this tree which towers over all of them. It is fifty feet
tall and the lights that cover it all dance with Christmas music that is
played in the square.
