The Wildcat Roller Coaster at Lake Compounce Amusement Park, Bristol, Connecticut

Across the midway from Boulder Dash is Lake Compounce's classic 1927 Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters designed Wildcat.

From 1927 until 2000 The Wildcat was the centerpiece of lake Compounce with a seventy-three foot first drop.

Wildcat is one of the first things that you see as you pass through the tunnel under Mt. Vernon Road to enter Lake Compounce.  With the greenery from the mountainside offsetting Wildcat's white structure it really makes for an impressive visual.

As with many of Herbert Schmeck's designs for PTC the Wildcat uses three bench trains.

I am particularly fond of three bench trains because if you sit in the back of the car you get a little more air as the front of the car gets pulled down over the crest of a hill as the back gets popped up like a 'teeter totter" that you would find on a playground.
