The new for 2017 Mystic Timbers Wooden Rollercoaster at Kings Island, Kings island, Ohio

Like Prowler, the layout of Mystic Timbers includes a spiraling first drop and a twisty and airtime filled out and back run away from the park.  A huge plus for Mystic Timbers for myself is Kings Island got Great Coasters International to just cut down the trees where the coaster was going to go.

For the most part GCI tends to clear cut everything around their coasters and cover it with gravel in order to keep trees from growing near the ride.  With a ride that is designed to be a mysterious speedy run through the woods having no trees or greenery within twenty-feet of the track really kills that theme.

I am all about trees whizzing by and above you as you speed through the course of any coaster because things whizzing past you just makes the ride feel faster than it is.

Speaking of feeling faster Mystic Timbers gets off to it as soon as the train crests the hundred and nine foot tall lift hill.

A bonus to being invited to Media Days like this one is we always end up running into many coaster friends and getting the chance to hang out.  The reason I am bringing this up is sitting in the front seat of one of Mystic Timbers trains is our friend Billy Olsen.  As many friends that were there and as many photos that I took of Mystic Timbers in action I ended up getting quite a few friend shots among them all.
