All the way in the back of
the park sits one of Gilroy Gardens'
six gardens.
The Monarch Garden is a perfect example of what the park was to become.
It is a mixture of natural wonders and rides. Going above the
gardens is the Sky Trail Monorail and down at the bottom of the gardens
sits the Rainbow Garden Round Boat Ride.
The monorail and boat rides are great but to bring more people to his
park Michael Bonfante needed a ride with thrills for the whole family.
That is the Quicksilver Express.
Quicksilver; which is more commonly known as mercury was used in mines
in the Gilroy area. There is a nice history of the mining in the
queue but with no lines we kind of whizzed past them to get on the next
train.
Quicksilver Express has the unique historical note of being the first
coaster built by Morgan Manufacturing back in 1996 while it was the last
of Morgan's coasters to open in 2001.
