Down on Main Street Bond ran into Frontier City's Marshall who wanted
to make sure we weren't troublemakers and understood that he kept a close
eye on his town.
Bond ended up being deputized as the Marshall needed a little help with
all of the people that were set to visit his city that day.
Frontier City's Mayor was trampled to death a few days before by a herd
of pigs so the Marshall had to go find a temporary replacement. So
a group of Frontier City citizens were called before the crowd and as a
result of who could give the best pig call a new mayor was chosen.
After the stars and stripes were raised and the pledge given Frontier City's
new Mayor gave the order and the rope was dropped letting everyone into
the park for a day of fun.
By the time the rope was dropped we were already into Frontier City and
headed for the Wild Kitty coaster. You see Bond, Chris and I were
there wearing coaster shirts as usual and a park employee came up and asked
if we were enthusiasts. The person was Michael Schwitek who is Frontier
City's Operations Manager. It turns out he's also a coaster enthusiast
so we talked about parks and trips and in the conversation I asked about
getting on Wild Kitty as you have to have a kid to ride it and unfortunately
Bond is too big. He said "Sure I'll get you on it" and a few minutes
later we were getting locked into the coaster for our first ride of the
day.
Here's Bond, myself and Chris getting ready for our Wild Kitty ride.
This is actually a new coaster this year. It seems that the old Wild
Kitty reached the end of its lifespan and needed to be replaced so CNL who
also owns Elitch Gardens in Denver just moved their slightly longer Alan
Herschell "Big Dipper" model coaster to Oklahoma. Besides being a
little bit longer than the old one it is a little bit taller resulting in
a low clearance at the top of the lift (there is a roof over it) so we were
instructed to keep our arms down for the ride. These Herschell kiddy
coasters might not be the most intense but they are really fun and pack
a punch.
