The riders who won the raffle were the first to head out on an
expedition.
For those who don't know this is the second Zambezi Zinger coaster at
Worlds of Fun. Opening with the park in 1973 was an Anton
Schwarzkopf designed "Speed Racer" model coaster. That ride lasted at
Worlds of Fun until 1997 when it was sold and moved to a park in
Columbia. A few footers and this queue
building were all that remained of the original and it is now being used for the reborn Zambezi Zinger.
Before heading straight to the ride let's take a look at how the Zambezi
Zinger's queue sets the stage for what is to come.
The Zambezi Zinger is themed to a small time safari company that is just reopening
after years of being closed. Quite the fitting theme for a reborn
ride. The posters in the queue advertise some of exotic locations
that the Zambezi Zinger Safari Company can take you.
One of my favorite bits of theming was this
corkboard that's covered with notes, photos and more. To the top
left there's a map of the Zambezi Zinger's path through the Serengeti.
If you look closely on it there's Prowler's layout on it as well.
There is also a map of Worlds of Fun from the parks opening in 1973 as
well as a few other goodies.
