Mamba's train is just rocketed at high speed out of the helix.
Camera's were clicking as Mamba sped overhead as it began the rides
return run.
In years past as in this year Mamba's shortfall had nothing to do with
the out and turnaround part of the ride.
What has made this ride less than perfect lies right after this section
of track. That is Mamba's midcourse brake run. Mamba was
designed and opened with three trains. To run three trains the
ride's designers needed a hard brake here to make sure there was proper spacing between the
rides three trains for safety's sake. For decades though, Mamba has only used two trains, not three. The third
is being rehabbed during the summer while the other two are on the track
thrilling guests each year. Needing the ride only trimmed for two
trains allowed Worlds of Fun to redo some of the programming for the
ride. No longer was a hard stop on the midcourse brake needed.
With it being gone Mamba has gone from being super fun to "OMG that is
good"! The return run is filled with insane airtime over every
single hill.
Let's head back to some Timber Wolf for a few as the park had opened up
and we were given a rare view of it from the center of the ride.
