The Mamba roller coaster at ACE Around the World at Worlds of Fun, Kansas City, Missouri

The ride was the best I have ever experienced on this coaster.

When the speed never ending and each camelback hill just rocketing us into the lap bars; like it's elder Magnum XL-200 at Cedar Point, Mamba made everyone stand up and take notice.

Mamba disproves the myth that you can't teach an old some new tricks.  After that first ride of the day I was more than a little happy to have chosen to have Mamba for our exclusive ride time for this year's event.

After Mamba we all headed out into the park.  With no line due to the park just opening we headed for Fury of the Nile to get soaked on.  While heading up to hop on our rapids boat we all kept our eyes to the left.  We weren't checking out the parks legendary Eli engine pulling the Worlds of Fun Railroad.

We were all looking beyond the train tracks to this plot of land.  Up until 1997 the Zambezi Zinger designed by the legendary Anton Schwarzkopf sat on this site.  For the last few months rumors have been spreading through the coaster enthusiast community of a "Project 2.0" that was due for the parks 50th anniversary in 2023.  The word was the project was either going to be a modern rebuild of their classic Zambezi Zinger, Orient Express or both over several years.  During this summer permits were filed for a wooden coaster.  In August (Yes it has taken me a while to get to writing this...sorry.  Life has been busy.) the park announced the rebirth of a wooden Zambezi Zinger to return to this site.  The ride is going to pay homage to the original with a recreation of that ride's spiral lift before sending riders out on a fast and low to the ground layout.  Seeing video of the new Zinger on my phone shortly after the ride was announced I had adrenaline pumping through my veins like a kid heading down the stairs on Christmas morning to dig into the pile of gifts that Santa left them.  Zambezi Zinger is going to be THE ride to get to next year.

Looking back at the event now knowing what is coming f0r 2023 my conversations on that day with those park personnel that I work with to set up ACE Around the World were filled with hints.  One of the questions that I got was "if we get a new ride would you want to move the date of ACE Around the World to be as close to its opening".  Just a little teaser that we are talking about a date so if you want to add Zambezin Zinger to your count next year keep an eye on ACE's Heart of America Regional page for announcements about when we are having the event.
