The Timber Wolf roller coaster at Worlds of Fun, Kansas City, Missouri

There has been a lot of work over the last few years at Worlds of Fun to improve the entire park experience. There was the new entrance gate, the addition of Winterfest and a multi year project to turn Timber Wolf into a great coaster.

In order to do that several years ago Worlds of Fun brought in Great Coasters International to take the "intense ride jostling" out of Timber Wolf and really make it a world class coaster.

Each winter GCI took on a part of Timber Wolf slowly and methodically looking at the issues and making it better.

When GCI came in I'm certain that it was obvious that the helix was the big thing that needed to be tackled. Instead of tackling that first they decided to work around the coaster fixing all of the other issues so that when the day came to deal with the helix once completed Worlds of Fun would end up with a great ride and not a work in progress.

This year was the year for the helix to be worked on and the best way to fix it was to completely remove it.
