The big new attraction that's open in Fantasyland is "Under The Sea:
The Voyage of the Little Mermaid".
Under The Sea has a Omnimover ride system like the "Doom Buggies" of the
Haunted Mansion that are an unending train of two seat cars that work through
the story of the Little Mermaid.
One thing that I really like about Disney's Imagineers and ride artists
is that they can turn a two dimensional image into a full three dimensional
moving character like those in Under The Sea.
Everyone from The Little Mermaid shows up in Under The Sea including Ursula
the half human half octopus sea witch who uses the Little Mermaid and her
love for a human in an attempt to overthrow King Triton. The ride
kind of takes you through the story of The Little Mermaid but after Ursula
cons Ariel into becoming a human the ride skips the last third of the movie
and just goes right to it's happy ending (unlike the real ending in the
Hans Christian Anderson story where she dies).
The ride is really gorgeous but other than that I guess I'm not the ride's
target demographic. It didn't do much doe me other than get me off
of my feet for tem minutes.
Bond's reaction to "Under The Sea The Voyage of The Little Mermaid" was
simply "That stunk...let's go ride something cool".
