So we're there having a nice day out and the damn Empire had to drop
an AT-AT into Central Florida to just ruin the day.
No it didn't ruin the day although Star Tours kind of made part of Bond's
day not the greatest.
Star Tours is of course a Star Wars (now owned by Disney so maybe we'll
see a Star Wars Theme Park eventually...please!) themed simulator ride that
takes you through the Star Wars universe. Every ride is not the same
as it has over fifty variations to run you through so if you want to ride
them all because you're a super Star Wars fan plan a few days of non stop
riding.
Now I have to close my eyes on simulator rides as they really mess me up.
Carrie loves them which is the big reason I ride them (albeit with closed
eyes) with her as she doesn't ride much. Well, Bond didn't love Star
Tours as I guess he gets his susceptibility to motion sickness from me as
Star Tours really made him sick. So no riding it again and again in
order to see all of the tours for him.
It's Gertie!!!!
Ok...a little film history for you. "Gerite The Dinosaur" was one
of the first animated films when it came out in 1914. The show wasn't
solely animated as it toured the Vaudeville circuit and had an actor on
the stage interacting with Gertie who was billed as the "Wonderfully Trained
Dinosaur" that was projected on a screen behind him. Gertie is not
an attraction at the Disney Hollywood Studios but it's nice seeing this
homage to an early form of the art form of animation that made Disney what
it is today.
