The Boss' first drop is hidden from the park so it is nice to head
out here to take a gander at it.

The first drop is a hundred and fifty-five feet and is a double
down.

What is great about The Boss' double down is about two thirds of the
way down the track from a steep drop to a shallow dive that plunges
into some of the rides massive structure. With the structure
whizzing on by it feels like The Boss just speeds into turbo before
the bottom falls out and you plunge to bottom of the drop.

The Boss has been the trouble child of the coasters at Six Flags St.
Louis. Custom Coasters International, who built The Boss, went
from building three to four coasters a year to building seven for
2000. With CCI almost doubling their output quality took a hit
on a few of their rides that year and The Boss is one of them.
Running perfect The Boss is an aggressive coaster.
Unfortunately, The Boss hasn't ran perfect in a really long time.
It's normally a "one and done" ride when visiting the park.
Knowing that Six Flags has decided to start replacing rough sections
of The Boss with metal Titan Track from Great Coasters
International. The first few hundred feet to get replaced are
near the bottom of the first drop. The plan is to replace a
few hundred feet a year in a long term quest to make it a better
ride.

The question is the Boss a better ride with Titan Track? Yes!
Having those few hundred feet of track sooth gives The Boss a little
more velocity ratcheting up the forces and thrill for the rest of
the ride. If changing a fraction of the track to Titan Track
will make that big of a difference they will have a world class
coaster here once they finish.
