The Log Flume at Six Flags St. Louis, Eureka, Missouri

The Log Flume at Six Flags St. Louis is not a single flume but two completely separate troughs.  Normally the tough on the right side is open due to it being accessible to those who have special needs.  Outside of really super busy days it is pretty rare to see the left side running.

Shockingly the left side was open.

The reason I get so excited about the left side being open is while the two troughs have the same splashdown finale, their layouts are completely different.  The left side has more turns and a really wonderful straight run with some speed.  Both sides of the Log Flume are fun but the left is just so much better.

One thing that I really like about Six Flags St. Louis is their "can do" attitude.  For decades they have gotten a pittance from Six Flags when it comes around for funds to improving the park.  Being low park on the totem pole when it comes to budgets Danny and the rest of the management team at Six Flags St. Louis have two choices with as small a budget that they get.  Choice one is to let the park slide and look worse and worse.  The sec0nd choice is to do whatever is necessary to get the job done.

They chose the second option.

What that means is instead of buying professionally made Fright Fest decorations they do it themselves.  Want some spooky lights for around the park?  Get twenty metal trash cans, cut out some jack o lantern faces on them, put a red or orange light in them and you've got some haunt theming.  It also means that when the park is closed for the season, management is out there in the park painting, putting together new seating, and doing anything else possible in house.  As a result of their "can do" attitude, despite as little as Six Flags corporate has given them, the park is very profitable for the chain.  As I have been told there are many other parks in the chain that make way less than St. Louis does. When you hear some stupid internet rumor that Six Flags is going to be closing Six Flags St. Louis please ignore them.
