With any grand celebration of this magnitude the day began with a few speeches and presentations.  Probably the coolest was when Park President Phil Liggett brought up Security Supervisor Fred Desalme up to honor him for fifty years of service at the park.  Fred started with the park and after fifty years of service his hard earned retirement was right around the corner.



This was the kickoff to Six Flags St. Louis' "50 Days of Fun".



For those of you who grew up playing Rollercoaster Tycoon parks actually did have people like in the game walking the park selling balloons back in the 1970's.



With a blast of confetti....



...it was time to head into Six Flags St. Louis to have some fun.
