A really wonderful addition to Six Flags that should stay
after the precautions for Covid has passed is that Six Flags has
added mobile ordering of food to their smartphone app. This is
a great idea as guests don't have to wait in line and they don't
have to pass credit cards, cash or membership cards back and forth
to the employees. It is one less point of contact.
When you order you pick the time, what you want to eat, how you want
it customized and how you want to pay. For those of you who
have the dining plan you apply your meal or snack and that's it.
At lunch it really didn't work well at JB's Smokehouse as they were
having staffing issues as guests can no longer fill their all season
dink cups. About half of the staff were busy filling drinks
and as a result the one person filling orders was stretched pretty
thin. This is forgivable as we were there for the first day of
operation for Six Flags Members and Pass Holders only so it was
really a big training session for employees.
Later in the day though the mobile food ordering was awesome at the
First Cone Parlor. We ordered our cones on the app. When
we got to First Cone there was a huge line inside and instead of
getting in it we just walked up to the counter, got our cones and
walked off.
If you don't use the app to order you are just wasting time.
Sanitizing is the word of the day and there are stations all over
the park.
The gate wasn't the only part of the park to get a bit of a
makeover. The restroom by the Log Flume was getting worked on
when we were there.
There was a noticeable lack of games around the park. I'm
curious besides having to clean them if Six Flags decided to remove
them and not staff them as a cost cutter with the parks running at
25% guest capacity.
As I said about guest capacity with our visit being on a Monday in
late June it was really dead. Hopefully people hear about all
of the ways that Six Flags is going through to keep everyone safe
and feel comfortable to visiting for a day of fun.
