The park was packed until about ten and then it emptied out leaving
the Screaming Eagle a walk on for the last hour Six Flags St. Louis
was open. I like looking out over the park
from up
there. The Eagle always runs insane at night and with no one
there we just sat down and rode it over and over.
It is rare we have bad weather at Six Flags St. Louis and I get to
roam the empty park with a massive herd of awesome friends.
With the park all lit up and empty we had to meander our way down
the hill at the end of the night.
The Grand Ole Carousel is 100 years old this year.
Being ever extremely hospitable Six Flags St. Louis gave us a nice
walk back to Batman to get the first rides of the day.
It opened in 1915 at Luna Park in Cleveland, Ohio. That park
closed in 1929 and it moved across town to Puritas Springs Park
where it ran from 1930 to 1958. It then moved to Indian Lake
Park in Ohio before heading to Six Flags St. Louis in 1972 when it
was last restored. I have been a big proponent of this
carousel getting some serious tender love and care and there are
rumors that at the IAAPA trade show this year that the park was
making some serious inquiries as to getting it done.
