The new for 2011 Sky Screamer ride at Six Flags St. Louis, Eureka, Missouri

With it towering over all of the park it is hard to miss Six Flags St. Louis' new for 2011 Sky Screamer ride.  Here's a view of it from the parking lot.

Sky Screamer was not quite ready to ride just yet.  It's supposed to open in mid-May.  As it is replacing the old and pretty much worn out (it had not tilted in years) Riverview Racer "Yo Yo" ride the Sky Screamer fits perfectly into the old rides spot including using it's old station.

For most of the day a few workers were walking around on top of Sky Screamer's ride carriage checking out the ride and working on making it functional.  When Sky Screamer is up and running the two person cars are not going to be hanging down.  With spinning around at forty-three miles per hour you're going to be way out to the side with nothing above you and nothing below you.

This ride is going to scare the crap out of me.  The thought of spinning around a couple of hundred feet in the sky hanging from a chain makes my fear of heights kick into high gear.  Still I will ride it and knowing me I'll eventually get myself to get used to it because one of my core beliefs is that a life lived in fear is a life half lived so yeah it's going to scare me on my first ride but not for long.

It is a long way up there.  The tower is two-hundred and thirty-six feet tall so my guess is that with the ride going you're going to be flying around with two hundred feet of nothing under your feet.
