I hate Halloween events at amusement parks. It's not because
I don't like the holiday, actually it's one of my favorites. I just
don't like events like Haunt at the Cedar Fair parks or Fright Fest at the
Six Flags parks because it is an impending sign that the coaster season
will soon be over. I hate not being able to hop into the car with
Bond and head out for a day of fun getting strapped into a coaster and speeding
around it's course. The off season sucks and Fright Fest means it
will soon be here.
Even though the post-season blues were creeping over the horizon Bond and
I took a couple of Friday nights and headed to Six Flags St. Louis for some
fun. One of the nights we met up with Six Flags St. Louis' resident
coaster enthusiast and our awesome friend Greg for an evening full of rides.
It's impossible to fight the urge to take a left as soon as we enter Six
Flags St. Louis' gates to get a few rides on Evel...I mean American Thunder
(Curse you Six Flags for licensing names for coasters then deciding not
to pay for them and changing the rides name to something lame) so why fight
it. We grabbed Greg and got our Thunder on.
I have yet to get a bad, lame or even mediocre ride on this coaster.
Yeah I'm not a fan of it's old or new names but it is one hell of a ride
that always performs.
During Fright Fest there's always a pretty wicked spider infestation on
American Thunder.
