The Faust Park Carousel

Like all seasons at some time they must come to an end.  So Saturday November 7, 2009 Bond and I hopped in the car and took our familiar route south to Six Flags St. Louis to finish it all up.

The Faust Park Carousel

We took off a little bit early and took a little detour to start our day on a classic carousel.  At Faust Park in Chesterfield is the last remaining ride from St. Louis' Forrest Park Highlands Amusement Park, the Faust Park Carousel.

The Faust Park Carousel

This Denzel crafted Carousel was built in 1920 and installed at Forrest Park Highlands in 1929.  There it resided taking the visitors to the Highlands for a spin until the park burned to the ground in 1963 leaving the park's pool, charred remains and this carousel.  It was saved by a local businessman and eventually found it's way to Faust Park.

At Faust Park the carousel is well cared for in a climate controlled building ensuring a long life for these horses.
