It's actually kind of hard to get photos of the Screaming Eagle as
it goes out through the woods but since the park opened before the trees
started to bud you could get some nice views of the ride.
The Grand Old Carousel is actually a real grand old carousel.
The Grand Old Carousel is a classic four row carousel made by the Philadelphia
Toboggan Company. It opened up at Luna Park in Cleveland in 1915,
then was moved to Puritas Springs Park also in Cleveland and then Russells
Point Park. It moved after each park closed and Six Flags St. Louis
acquired it in 1971 and opened it in 1972 after being restored.
Unfortunately it again needs to be restored. Paint is chipped, there
are bare spots of wood and someone pried the eyes out of several of the
horses. One of the horses was removed a few years ago and restored
to see how much it cost but the rest are still waiting. Hopefully
at the least Six Flags Corporate will approve enough of a budget to start
restoring this classic work of art.
