Six Flags St. Louis' Public Relations Director Elizabeth Gotaway was
there but unable to speak as she had lost her voice from screaming on Evel
Knievel so Six Flags St. Louis' President Dave Romero spoke a bit.
Evel Knievel was involved with planning this coaster from the start but
unfortunately passed away last year so his wife Krystal Knievel was there
for him. After a few words from her and a recorded message from Evel
an empty train was sent out in his memory then the family and us coaster
geeks were ushered up into the station for the first official ride.
In addition to the few coaster enthusiasts who were there; Greg, me and
the crew from SFStL.net there was an
Evel Knievel enthusiast there who brought a recreation of one of Evel's
jump bikes as well as some of his gear.
I don't know if a man who holds the Guinness record for the most broken
bones could be considered "Lucky".
