The Judge Roy Scream is a fun little out and back wooden
coaster that due to being outside of the park (you access the ride
via a tunnel under the parking lot entrance drive) never seems to
have a wait. We walked right on it despite the rest of the
park having hour long waits at the minimum on everything else.
Here is the view of Six Flags Over Texas from the Judge Roy Scream.
As you can see we are way out there away from the rest of the park.
The Judge was a last minute addition to the park in 1980. In
the winter of 1979 it was decided to scrap the Schwarzkopf designed
Big Bend coaster over long running maintenance issues. Needing
something to fill that family coaster void the park called in
designer Bill Cobb and he worked up the plans for the Judge Roy
Scream and it was quickly added to the park.
I really like that Six Flags Over Texas likes to show off its
history but how about showing it off somewhere other than in a
smoking section?
Our original plan was to stay late and then get a room somewhere
between Dallas and home in Western Illinois but on our sixth day of
sweating to death, having to consume beverages non stop to keep from
dehydrating both Bond and I were ready for air conditioning and
home.
So we took a look at what was left to ride and programmed it into
our Flash Pass with the hopes of getting on the road and eventually
home.
