Up and over another one of
the Great American Scream Machine's hills.
John Allen could be called
the last of the golden age coaster designers.
He started out as a child around
amusement parks because his dad was an insurance agent that sold insurance
to parks. While his dad traveled the country to his clients John
tagged along and when his dad was in the front office working he got
to sample all of the rides on the midway.
He eventually started working
for the Philadelphia Toboggan Company under the tutelage of Herbert
Schmeck and eventually worked his way up to being the companies president
and chief designer.
Here's one last photo of the
Great American Scream Machine as it ends it's course before we start
to leap over tall buildings in a single bound.
