The Goliath roller coaster at Six Flags New England, Agawam, Massachusetts

Part of what I like about Goliath is the "Rube Goldberg-ish" system of pulleys, cables and a car that is on the track between the loop and the second lift hill that speeds up from nothing to matching the trains speed as it starts to climb the hill in order to pull it up to the top without a chain lift.  It is a really crazy set up that probably could have been done easier and more reliable with linear induction motors (it certainly would have had less moving parts) but for some reason Vekoma went with this and as a result the three that Six Flags purchased barely ran in 2001 as they were down having all the gremlins worked out of the overly complex mechanism.

After heading up Goliath's second 191 foot tall lift hill you plunge straight down 177 feet that is if you're sitting in the back seat before going through it all again.

Goliath is worlds better than Vekoma's Boomerangs, SLC's and Invertigo coasters and is my favorite design from them.  It is not as compact and disorienting as the Boomerang, no where near as rough as the SLC and it is much more fun than their Invertigo's.  The only bad part about the ride is that capacity is not the greatest chances are there will be a line.  With that fault these coasters were a horrible fit for huge parks like the ones in Chicago, Los Angeles and Atlanta but it is a really good fit at medium sized park Six Flags New England.

They have a Yuengling stand at Six Flags New England...EPIC!  Unfortunately it was closed...tragic!

I am not a big beer drinker, especially mass produced stuff but I've had Yuengling several times and it is really good.  Sadly though you can't get it west of Ohio so no Yuengling for me here in Illinois.

You get shot up 205 feet into the sky and then get shot straight down 205 feet and there's no line at all.  That is something I can't pass up.

Scream is Six Flags New England's tower ride from S&S Power Sports.  They can run this as a "Space Shot" that launches you up, a "Turbo Drop" that pulls you up slowly before shooting you down or a combination of both where you get shot up and then on your second bounce up shoots you back down.  They were running the combo when we were there which is really a lot of fun because you get the best of both worlds and it is always a surprise when you get shot down half the way through the ride.
