After turning the Texas Giant at Six Flags Over Texas and the Rattler
at Six Flags Fiesta Texas into steel coasters (or hybrids depending on which
side of the debate you fall on) and building Goliath at Six Flags Great
America from the ground up the word has been that for 2015 Colossus at Six
Flags Magic Mountain and Cyclone here at Six Flags New England were going
to be transformed by Rocky Mountain Construction.
It was good to get to Six Flags New England to take it for a few more rides
and to get Bond on it before The Cyclone was no more.
Shortly after we visited Six Flags New England announced that the Cyclone
was going to close forever on July 20th.
Nothing has been announced yet as to what is replacing the Cyclone but with
track being carefully removed leaving the structure it is easy to deduce
that Rocky Mountain was going to transform the Cyclone into something new.
Let's start betting on what it is going to be named. My money is on
"Steel Cyclone" or "Iron Cyclone".
Despite having not long to live The Cyclone it still had plenty of thrills
for Bond and myself.
