Kicking off the opening night's gala dinner we
were all
encouraged to add a little bit of ourselves to the parks newest coaster:
West Coast Racers.
A big benefit of coming to the "Con" is you get to see people that you
haven't seen in forever. like Paul and Adri. At the taking
of this photo it had been an unbearable length of time since I last saw them...a whole four days since I was
up in Toronto riding
Yukon
Striker with Paul and having dinner with Adri. They say distance
makes the heart grow fonder but I hope I don't have to go that long
again without getting to spend time with the two of them.

It was super cool getting to sign a part of a ride but the mischief
maker in me wishes I had a light blue marker so I could make three or
four additional guide arrows like the one on top that show the people
putting West Coast Racers together where to line up the bolts.

After the first fantastic meal; of many that Six Flags Magic Mountain put
on for the 400+ members of the American Coaster Enthusiasts in
attendance, we were turned loose on the park. What lay ahead was some
thirty hours at the park, behind the scenes tours, lots of time with
friends and some ten and a half hours of exclusive ride time.

The rides, tours and everything else that goes into a con are fun but
what makes it amazing is getting to run into great friends; like Lori,
John and Draven, everywhere you turn.

Six Flags Magic Mountain; being in one of the largest markets in North
America with competition like Knott's Berry Farm or Disneyland has made
it's niche and that is going BIG.
If you want BIG here are two big rides for you. First off there is
Superman: the Escape from Krypton that can launch you in reverse up to a
hundred miles an hour up this four hundred and fifteen foot tower.
Then there is the Lex Luthor's Drop of Doom drop ride that was bolted to
the outside of Superman's tower with a record breaking 400 foot drop
when it opened in 2012.
