The Whizzer roller coaster at Six Flags Great America, Gurnee, Illinois

Maxx Force is awesome but The Whizzer is still the reigning champ of the coasters at Six Flags Great America.

The Whizzer is not big, it is not tall, it is not fast, it is not intense but it is a magical coaster that always gives everyone an amazing ride.

The photographer in me likes that due to the construction of Maxx Force many of the trees that used to completely cover up Whizzer have been removed.

Then there is the coaster enthusiast in me that is sad to see all of that cover gone taking away some of the tree covered mystery that this ride has had since all of the trees covered it in the 1980's.

With the Whizzer's iconic spiral lift hill, the long drops, the high speed turns (especially the ground hugging one), and the most comfortable coaster cars ever if I were offered unlimited time to ride any of the coasters at Six Flags Great America over and over and over this is and has always been the coaster that I'd choose.
