Here is one last Goliath picture for you. As you can see Goliath
is a wood coaster with layers of wood making up the track. What makes
Goliath and outlaw Run different is instead of metal strips bolted to the
wood for rails the wood is formed to the metal and then all of the tracks
and rails are bolted together making it one structural unit that makes loops
and an extremely smooth ride possible for a wooden coaster.
Even though Goliath is going to get all the attention this year we couldn't
not spend some time with Six Flags Great America's previous new coaster;
X-Flight.
I really enjoy the nothing above you and nothing below you ride experience
a "Wingrider" coaster like X-Flight gives.
With X-Flight's out there and exposed ride feel theming the coaster to an
experimental aircraft is perfect.
X-Flight's loops and pacing are phenomenal but finishing by rolling through
the tower and following that with an inverted head and foot chopper effect
from one of the supports is a great finale to this ride.
