A nice thing Bond and I stumbled on while browsing through the Carousel Store was the old model of then Marriott's Great America that they used to promote the park before it opened.

It's kind of interesting that they had the Tidal Wave coaster on the plans as it opened two years after the rest of the park. You can tell that Marriott's had the growth of Great America planed out for quite a while. Included in those plans is the area that is now Southwest Territory which is marked for "Future Expansion" on the map.
