Once you're up to speed there's
nowhere to go but up from here. If you've been reading Negative
G for a while you'll recognize Vertical Velocity as it is a copy of
Superman Ultimate Escape (SUE for short) at Six Flags Worlds of Adventure
in Ohio. After SUE's success in 2000 Six Flags decided to
add Impulse coasters to Six Flags Great America and Six Flags Marine
World in California and hopefully more parks in the future as it is
one kick ass ride.
One nice thing about Vertical Velocity
is on the forward spike there is a nice heart line spiral at the top.
Get a seat in the front for a really weird view of the track twisting
around you.
Once you're shot up the back spike
there's only one way to go...face first straight down. It's fun
to ride in the front seat and have nothing between you and the ground
but the back seat gives you much more free fall.
The Viper which was built by Six
Flags and was based on the design of the Coney Island Cyclone gives
one hell of a ride. I'm normally a back seat rider on coasters
but I really love riding in the front on the Viper because it ejects
you out of your seat when going over the hills.
Viper has many twists and coils
to take you through. Like a snake about to strike it's all twisted
around itself so there's plenty of head choppers and near misses with
the structure to give you a thrill.
