The Iron Rattler rollercoaster at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, San Antonio, Texas

After successfully transforming The Texas Giant, which was another problem wooden coaster into a steel coaster in 2011 it wasn't much of a surprise when it was announced that The Rattler would get the Rocky Mountain treatment.  Away went the wood track and as you can see here first drop again went all the way down to the bottom of the quarry.

Iron Rattler comes so close to the quarry wall a roof was added to protect the track and riders from the occasional falling rock.

Along with the new steel I-Box track from Rocky Mountain Construction Iron Rattler came to life with new snake themed trains by Gerstlauer.

Iron Rattler is fast and furious and my favorite part of the ride is taking this turn at speed while spiraling down over the cliff edge.

That leads up to the first of Iron Rattler's inversions.

I like this section because the ride follows the original layout but instead of a simple hill heading up to the top of the quarry Iron Rattler simply rolls you over into a nice zero-g roll.
