Roar was added to Six Flags America in 1998 and was built and designed
by Great Coasters International or otherwise known as GCI. GCI's designs
are reminiscent of the classic coasters of the 1920's with their spiral
dips and out of control feeling.
Roar again was a pretty good coaster and I would really like it unfortunately
it was way too rough just like The Wild One. Six Flags America needs
to invest in their wood coasters because they have a pair of great rides.
The reason I know the roughness is due to inadequate care is because part
of Roar is covered by a half tunnel (roof but no sides) that keeps the track
from the elements and that part was wonderfully smooth unlike the rest of
the ride. Heck if you're not going to put the money into keeping the
coaster in tip top form at least put a roof over the ride so the rest of
it is as smooth as that section.
Six Flags America has to have the most water rides of any park in the chain.
There's this rapids ride, the Typhoon Sea Coaster, Penguin's Blizzard River
and the Shipwreck Falls chute-the-chutes. About the only thing they
don't have is a log flume.
Continuing through Six Flags America it was time to hit my second Vekoma
coaster of the day Mind Eraser.
