...to the big prize which was a original wheel from Fire in the Hole.
I'm not going to say how much this went for but the price it went for
was well beyond my discretionary spending.
While on the subject of Fire in the Hole we normally have some sort of
behind the scenes tour for Coaster Christmas. With the original
Fire in the Hole closing we were afforded a really special behind the
scenes tour of the rides maintenance area.
The way to Fire in the Hole's maintenance area was through the rides
exit. As we waited to get into the maintenance area I took the
opportunity to snag a few photos of the rides theming.
It looks like the Baldknobbers might be planning a meeting later
tonight.
One thing that I have always likes about Fire in the Hole was that it is
a completely homemade ride. Back in 1971-1972 there wasn't the
massive numbers of coaster manufacturers that there is today.
Instead of going to Arrow or Schwarzkopf Silver Dollar City decided they
could do it. With the ride they built still thrilling and
endearing riders some fifty-one years later they massively succeeded.
