A quick note here is that this cupola on top of the tower was not
there for some of these photos. That is because it was added
overnight and appeared the second day of our visit. The park
was testing in the afternoon and then the construction crew were putting
on the finishing touches at night.
Once the elevator carrying the raft reached the top of the tower is
when Mystic River Falls takes the traditional rapids ride and merges it
with a waterslide.
After a spiraling descent Mystic River Falls speeds over the edge....
...of the rides big drop.
If you have noticed that some of these shots are zoomed in or from
strange angles there is a reason for that. Silver Dollar City like
a parent on Christmas eve wanted to keep the surprise until the ride was
ready to open so unless you had a decent telephoto lens or were creative
enough to find holes in the fencing; like in this shot, you weren't
getting much of a look at Mystic River Falls until the ride opened.
It is extremely cool that they did this because it really added to the
hype and got ride fans like myself that more excited for Christmas
morning when we could run downstairs and tear off the wrapping paper to
see what was inside.
