With a traditional coaster layout turned on its head and a wooded terrain layout Thunderation is my favorite Mine Train coaster.  Starting out in the station at the top of the hill Thunderation doesn't need a lift until the ride is about two thirds of the way through the ride.

It wouldn't be a proper Christmas celebration without sitting down with ones family for a feast.  As food is going to be a big part of Silver Dollar City's 2017 season where there will be over 300 different recipes introduced through the year we were given several of them to try out during our Coaster Christmas feast.

The food was amazing but getting to sit down and break bread with some of my coaster family made the holiday complete.

Trees, rides and buildings at Silver Dollar City are covered with more than five million Christmas lights during an Old Time Christmas.  As someone who has had a struggle keeping the few strands of lights that go around my tree from tangling I have to send Silver Dollar City's lights crew some serious respect.  If I can't keep 100 lights from becoming a giant tangled mess these folks are gods keeping five million lights from becoming an epic tangle.
