An Old Time Christmas 2011

We only had two rides on Powder Keg earlier in the season and being
one of the best coasters in the Midwest our goal for the day was to spend
some serious time speeding around its course.
Good news...we got to. You see the huge crowd that was nipping on
our heels as we headed to Powder Keg did not follow us to the coaster, instead
they headed straight for the theater next door to see one of Silver Dollar
City's many Christmas shows. The crowd was primarily folks aged 60
or above and they were there for a day of shows, food and shopping while
Bond and I were there to ride and ride, grab a bite to eat and then ride
some more.
For our first ride of the day on Powder Keg Bond and I had the coaster all
to ourselves which is what is known as a "Zen Ride" in coaster geek speak.
Powder Keg is just insane fun and one of the best openings of any coaster
out there. Launching you up and over an airtime hill and then plunging
down the side of a mountain is a great way to get your heart racing and
adrenaline flowing through your veins..
The only thing I don't like about Powder Keg is that you really can't get
a good view of the ride from inside the park which makes it hard to get
any decent photos of it. One of these years I'd love to get down and
around this ride for a few hundred photos.
