Now the Spare Time Express was fun but if you need a reason to
visit Neb's Funworld the Go-Karts were unbelievable.
Neb's has a seven hundred foot long track that you get to take ten laps
on.
What really makes these karts fun is that due to being indoors they are
electric powered. There is no steady acceleration like you get
with a gas motor. Instead you get instant zero to max acceleration
in a heartbeat. Throw into the mix that these cars go 33 KMH
(around 20 MPH - got to do metric as I am in Canada) and the concrete is
slick as ice and you barely have to try and you are drifting around the
turns like a pro.
Honestly it was terrifying on my first few laps because as soon as you
start to turn the back end just whips out and if you are not careful
you'll completely spin out. When that happens the ride operators
press a button and all of the karts stop. It is a fantastic safety
measure that allows them to go and straighten you out before pressing go
to resume the race.
We only had time for one lap before Neb's closed for the night but I
really want to go back and spend some serious time lapping this insanely
fun track.
Looking around Neb's I wouldn't be surprised if the Spare Time Express
is the last coaster they add. There is a nice plot of land by the
parking lot that could easily fit another expansion for maybe a roller
skating rink and more rides.
The drive to Neb's was long but it was great to leave work behind for an
evening, get a few rides in and spend some time with my friends.
