Inside of the castle wall that you pass through to enter Marineland's
Deer Park is a bathroom. Now since 1999 when I started posting trip
reports to Negative-G I have never posted a picture of a bathroom because
well, bathrooms are bathrooms and no one thinks a bit about them.
So after taking care of business I was washing my hands and looked up to
see this ceiling made of hand hewn and stained wood. Now at
even the most themed theme park I have yet to run into a themed bathroom
but at Marineland like everywhere else in the park they went the extra step
and made the inside of the castle look like the inside of a castle even
if it is just a bathroom.
Before we left I had to take a detour through Marineland's Family Rides
section in the front of the park to see what rides they had up there.
A few of the rides up here date back to the 1970's like the Space Avenger
when Marineland was first starting to expand beyond being just a wildlife
attraction and turn into a theme park.
Marineland actually has two coasters for all of you to add to your list
of rides conquered.
Unfortunately for Bond and myself we were unable to add it to our
coaster counts on this visit as it was not up and running yet this year.
According to one of Marineland's maintenance guys the regulations have changed
requiring for a redundancy in the restraint locking mechanism so it was
being redesigned in order to make this fun looking little coaster even safer.
This really cool looking ride is the Water Carousel. It is a simple
boat ride for little kids but it looks really cool.
The Viking Adventure is an interesting take on a Rocking Tug style ride.
As the boat rocks back and forth on the track it also spins around
making for a dizzy little ride.
Here is a little video I put together of our day at Marineland.
At the end we had a truly remarkable and memorable day at Marineland.
I wasn't really sure what to expect but in the end all of the three of us
were blown away by it. The grounds are gorgeous, the rides are a blast
and the animals from the whales, to the deer to the bears to the dolphins
were amazing to experience and you could tell that they loved and cared
for like family from everyone at Marineland.
I'd gladly head back to Marineland for the animals any day but the rides
are a nice just make the whole park even better. Sadly Marineland
is a 13 hour drive away or we would all have a season pass and make regular
visits. Make sure when you are in the area to stop by Marineland and
tell Sonar that we said hello.
