The X-Coaster Rollercoaster at Magic Springs Amusement Park, Hot Springs, AR

Instead of coming up with a name of their own Magic Springs took the name from Maurer Schone as it's what they call this model of coaster.  I have no problem with this as it's a good name and they made this really cool logo for it.

I know I tend to harp on the fact that I think coasters and rides are works of art but it's hard seeing something like this twisted bit of steel and not comparing it to a sculpture.

I do like the stunning stainless steel look that Maurer Schone went with for their X Coaster trains.

One of the things that I really enjoyed about X Coaster is it's fantastic restraints.  They were designed so that a person could be secured without over the shoulder restraints and be twisted and left safely inverted.  At IAAPA, the amusement industry annual trade show they even had an X Coaster car test rig where people could be strapped in and they could turn the car upside down and leave the people hanging.  I kind of think of the restraints not as a lap bar but as a "Sumo belt" as they remind me of the belts that Sumo Wrestlers wear.  Still I have to say that X Coaster's restraints are really some of the most comfortable and best engineered out there.
