It is more than a little rare for a new amusement park to be built from
		the
ground up.

It is even more rare to have a new one get build in the heartland of
America nowhere near any large tourist meccas.

As extremely rare as these occurrences are I have been more than a
little excited about the new Lost Island Theme Park under construction a
three and a half hour drive north of me in Waterloo, Iowa.  The
		North Central Region of the
American Coaster Enthusiasts were hosting the
second construction tour of this park so Bond and I got up nice and
		early and headed north.

You can get a nice look at the entire park from the road that goes past
the Lost Island Waterpark before taking you into the parking lot of the
		theme park.

Like the waterpark the theme park is themed to a about the furthest
thing from the Iowa farmland...a South Pacific Island.

Wanting to take the theme park like Walt Disney did back when he came up
with the idea of using an amusement park to tell a story the Bertch
Family behind both Lost Island Parks use all sorts of theming elements
down to each land having custom themed lighting.  These pineapple
lights are used for Lost Island's entrance area as in the Polynesian
culture the pineapple is a symbol of welcome.
