Lake Compounce's Lakeside Trolley is a great way to not have to walk the
length of the lake to go and ride the Thunder Rapids or Sky Ride which
are located past Boulder Dash's turnaround away from the rest of the park.
The Lakeside Trolley is also something special as it is one of the oldest
rides in the park as the car entered service in 1911 where it ran in and
around New Haven, CT.
One of the stops this trolley car made during its normal operating life
was at Lake Compounce.
It ran as a trolley from 1911 until 1935 when it was retired. Lake
Compounce was not a "trolley park" as the park predated the local trolley
system and was not built to spur weekend ridership although a line went
out to the park.
The Lakeside Trolley like its name implies runs along the side of Lake Compounce.
Across the lake work was progressing on Lake Compounce's new campground
and cabin resort.
