It's hard not to feel like a little kid being surrounded by screams
of joy, the smell of popcorn and cotton candy and everywhere you looked
dazzling lights whirling around. This is one of the reasons I love
amusement parks.
Lake Compounce has a nice Ferris Wheel.
After Cory and Ken got done with riding the human mixing bowl that is the
Rotor we had two things left that we had to do. The first one was
to hop on Thunder 'N Lightening for a swing. Everyone should love
these because all they are is take your backyard swing that you had as a
kid and scale it up to monumental porportions.
The next thing that I had to do was spend some time with Boulder Dash in
the dark. This ride is amazing in the day but at night it'll rattle
your world. After my first night ride I felt like a heroin junkie
in need of one more fix and then one more fix and so on and so on.
My only complaint was not the ride but the fifteen people who felt it was
their right to cut ahead of everyone else in line. Most we stopped
but one couple who was "only going to get their kid and then exit"
actually forced their way past me and of course were seen on the ride later.
Honestly I think parks need to stop using the phrase "line jumping"
and substitute "cutting" and them more people would get
it. Oh another way to curb this is to make the queue thinner.
I mean two people can walk down Boulder Dash's queue side by side.
That's a whole lot of room that cutters have to maneuver their way around
those of us who actually wait our turn.
If you're a coaster fan and a coaster fan as well Lake Compounce's gift
shop has just the thing for you...coaster coasters.
Night rides on Boulder Dash with my friends was an awesome way to end up
a fantastic day. I loved Coney Island and I really loved Lake Compounce
and Boulder Dash. It kind of makes me wish I lived on the East Coast.
Oh well I will be back because Bond wants to give Boulder Dash a try.
