The Le Monstre Rollercoaster at La Ronde, Montreal, Quebec

Le Monstre opened in 1985 and 1986.  How can a coaster have two opening years you ask?  One of Le Monstre's tracks opened in 1985 while the second opened in 1986.

I know in some circles in the coaster enthusiast world the topic of counting racing/dueling coasters as one or two different coasters is hotly debated.   With two separate tracks that race and duel and one is about a hundred feet longer than the other one I have to go with the camp that says to count them as separate coasters at least in the case of Le Monstre.

Backstage under a coaster of course Bond was geeking out and having a good time.

Adriana was enjoying the behind the scenes tour of Le Monstre.  If you look closely you can still see some confetti in her hair from the wedding.  It really shows how insanely she and Paul were pelted with it the night before as there is still some wedged in her hair after several coaster rides.  It is not as bad as I had on my wedding.  I have no idea who said "lets have people throw birdseed instead of rice or confetti" but my groomsmen and my brothers stocked up on bundles of birdseed and brutally pelted us with it.  Hell, I had to dig the stuff out of my ears for days.

This piece of behind the scenes machinery is something that I have not seen before.  It is a rail bender so that when La Ronde needs to replace some of Le Monstre's combined 36,138 feet of steel rail (12,046 for the road, guide and up stop rails each) they can quickly and easily go it right there.
