The Le Monstre Rollercoaster at La Ronde, Montreal, Quebec

As you can see I wasn't the only one crawling under the tracks to check everything out as Amy and a few others did it as well.  We don't care if we look silly because we're having fun and what's more important than that when out with a bunch of friends for a day of fun at an amusement park?

Here is one final geeky shot of Le Monstre before we continue our tour of La Ronde.

The Super Menage Rollercoaster at La Ronde, Montreal, Quebec

Super Manege is one super ride.  Actually "manege" is French for ride so this coaster is named "Super Ride".

During the looping coaster craze of the late 1970's and early 1980's every park needed something that inverted park guests if they wanted to be considered a big park.   This looping coaster by Vekoma was what the City of Montreal who was running La Ronde added to the park to meet the needs of customers to be flipped head over heels while careening around at high speeds.

With just a 68 foot drop and two corkscrew loops Super Manege wasn't really that super compared to other rides of the day like The Demon at both Great America parks which had four loops and a drop of 98 feet but there was nothing else like this fun little ride anywhere nearby at that time..

Super Manege is actually a portable coaster with all of the structure attached to a framework that sits on the ground. All you have to do move it is take it apart like a giant erector set, pack it up on several trailers and move it to the next location.
