I am not sure who on Knoebels staff does all of the cool 3D artwork
for the signs that are all around the park but I really enjoy them.
After the Twister it was a short walk across one of the many streams that
dissect Knoebels to one of the greatest rides of all time...The Flyer.
The ride concept is simple. Put you in a car with an airfoil hanging
from cables, spin you around at high speed powered by a gas engine and let
you choose your own adventure with an intense ride or an easy one.
I know most of you reading this don't have to guess as what sort of a ride
we all wanted.
Needless to say all of us were working our airfoils back and forth not doing
anything out of the norm with our ride vehicle and there were cables snapping
all around the place.
Now I know some of you don't understand my use of the word "snapping" there
so I will explain. "Snapping" is when one or both of the cables holding
your car go slack for a second and then the car "snaps" when the cable once
again takes the weight of the car. This is caused by the car speeding
up or slowing down from the rides normal up and down movement when you move
the airfoil in and out. Snapping is bit of a shock when it happens
and has the feeling like you are riding a bucking bronco which can be exhilarating
and completely terrifying.
