One last Phoenix ride was a great way to end the day but it t
urned
out that our day wasn't over yet.
Paul, Adri and the girls headed to the Scooters when we headed for The Phoenix.
When we headed there to meet up with them before saying goodbye we discovered
that the Scooters were not closed and we were in for an EPIC ride time before
the fluorescent lights were turned out for the day.
With the park closing around us the only people remaining were us coaster
geeks, ride fanatics and a few locals who loved a good vehicular assault
on the Scooters.
What we had was a band of hard core Scooter junkies and we were all out
for blood. About the easiest way to describe it is to take any action
sequence from Mad Max: Fury Road and turn it into a ride. We were
beaten, bruised, I saw the under side of cars as they shot up from impact
and in the end it was a 'lovely day to die".
Plenty of rides, a new coaster, great food, birch beer, lights, band organ
music, the brass ring, airtime on The Phoenix, snapping on the Flyers, great
friends and a few thousand laughs between the bunch of us made for a memorable
day. In fact this was the best day I have ever had at Knoebels and
the only way it could have gotten better was if my wife Carrie was there.
She loves Knoebels and quiet days at home and hates multi park coaster kamikaze
trips so there was no way for he to join us so I will just have to end this
trip report that it was the best day ever at Knoebels and thanks to my crazy
bunch of comrades for sharing it with me.
