This unassuming house looking structure contains yet another world
class ride at Knoebels.
That world class ride is the Knoebels Haunted House.
So the big question is what is in the Haunted House to scare you as you
ride through the dark in one of these cars? I will not tell because
that would spoil the fun but I will tell you that the best scare is a copy
of one that Indiana Beach had on their dark ride back in the 1970's.
It consisted of the front of a Peterbuilt truck and the loudest horn you
ever heard. Knoebels Haunted House homage is not as elaborate but
it is as effective.
Our final new coaster for the trip and the day was Black Diamond.
Like the Haunted House that sits nerby Black Diamond is a dark ride.
Instead of using powered cars to take you through the scenes Black Diamond
is a coaster. It is actually a very old and historic ride despite
only operating at Knoebels since 2011. It opened as the Golden Nugget
Mine Ride at Morrey's Piers in New Jersey in 1960.
It had a mine theme at Morey's Piers but when it was donated to Knoebels
they changed the theme to fit the locality. As Knoebels sits in a
huge coal mining region the mining the ride takes you through was changed
from gold to coal. Black Diamond was an extremely fun ride and something
that everyone could ride.
